LOS ANGELES — Directors of Unified Western Grocers, Inc., the largest retail-owned wholesale grocery cooperative in the Western United States, re-elected Louis A. Amen, Chairman, Super A Foods, Inc., Los Angeles, to a one-year term as Chairman of the Board at the organization's Annual Shareholders Meeting, held here February 26, 2002.
With this year's election, Amen begins his third consecutive term as Chairman of the Board and remains the only person to have held this position since the Company was formed in late 1999. Before becoming Chairman of Unified, Amen was Chairman of the Board of Certified Grocers of California, Ltd., a predecessor company to Unified.
Directors elected David Bennett, Co-Owner, Mollie Stone's Markets, First Vice Chairman of Unified Western Grocers, Inc. and elected Richard L. Wright, President, Wright's Foodliner, Inc., Second Vice Chairman.
In addition, shareholders of Unified Western Grocers elected 15 other retailers to serve one-year terms on the Board of Directors. The directors are:
