Western Family Brand

History

Western Family's roots date back to 1934 when several western region wholesalers banded together to meet the challenges of rapidly expanding distribution and retail opportunities. They recognized the benefits of combining their purchasing power, and they initiated grocery procurement on a small scale, primarily in commodity vegetables and fruits.

In 1962 the organization was incorporated as Western Family Foods. Since then, the company has emerged as a full-scale private label marketing and procurement company with over 450 suppliers nationwide. Western Family Foods is owned by Unified and other wholesale grocers. Western Family Foods supplies 16 distribution centers servicing independent retailers in 23 states. Western Family currently distributes 7,500 national brand equivalent items in the categories of Grocery, General Merchandise/ HBC, Frozen, Grocery Deli, Meat Deli, Fresh Meat, Produce, and Bakery.  More than 1860 Western Family SKUs are available through Unified.
